Fortress Arza (Forte Arza) description and photos - Montenegro: Lustica. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photographs and a map showing the nearest significant objects. The title in English is Forte Arza. Photo and descriptionCape Arza on the Lustitsa peninsula is decorated with a majestic building - the former Austrian fortress of the same name. Just one mile away on the island there is another citadel - the Mamula fortress. These fortifications were used to protect the Boka-Kotor Bay: no ship could pass by such fortresses unnoticed. It is difficult to moor to the fortress from the sea side, so tourists simply take pictures of it from the decks of pleasure boats. The Austrian fort can be reached by land by the road laid at the same time when the construction of the fortress itself was going on, that is, in 1853. It can be reached from the trail that rises from the Zanjice beach. Arza fortress, built in the middle of the 19th century, consisting of a massive tower and a residential building for soldiers, resembles a deep vertical dish. During the construction of the fort, its technical equipment could only be envied. However, after more than 50 years, the fortress seemed a relic of the past, but everything could provide worthy resistance to the French armada, which tried to occupy the Bay of Kotor. The Arza Citadel is bolted, as it belongs to a private person. What the owner will do with this fortress is unknown. Local residents believe that a modern casino will operate on its territory. Recently, there has been talk that the Arza fortress will soon be included in a large tourist complex. The ancient fortress will be the backdrop for modern hotels and restaurants, with a dock for fast-moving yachts.
