But then the townspeople cleverly decided to fill it up and pave it with marble slabs, and since then Stradun has remained the main shopping street of the old city. Even now, when the Dalmatian language that once used to exist here, locals sometimes call this street its old name - Placa. This is a favorite walking place for citizens and guests of the city.
