The year of foundation of this botanical garden – 1989. Its area is currently – more than 6 hectares. About 4 hundred specimens of tropical plants grow here. Of these, one hundred – it is a completely unique collection of palm trees.

The island itself, on which the garden is located, is located near the city of Aswan and near the northern tip of Eleftina Island.

The Botanical Garden was so named after Horatio Kitchener, British Commissioner who received this island as a gift. First, he organized a small private garden there. To replenish it, the Commissioner sent expeditions to India, Sudan and Africa for new plants more than once. Due to the fact that the climate here is close to the climate of the tropics, the plants perfectly took root in these places.

The modern Kitchener Botanical Garden is one of the five finest gardens in the world. Its numerous trees are home to monkeys, white peacocks, ducks and other representatives of the fauna not characteristic of Egypt.
