The Moscow Kremlin Diamond Fund exhibits a Russian jewelry collection. It is located on the ground floor of the State Armory building.

The Diamond Fund was founded during the reign of Peter I. In 1719, Peter I regulated the storage of valuable items and coronation regalia. He ordered to keep all this in one place, in the treasury, in a chest with three locks. For solemn ceremonies, precious objects could only be obtained by three officials gathered together, each of whom had only one key. The chamber that was built to store all valuables was called the Diamond Fund. The valuables were guarded by the boyars and were responsible for their safety "with their heads."

Gradually, the Diamond Fund was replenished. The storage charter changed, but the storage order was the same. During the reign of the Romanovs, the treasury was called the Diamond Room.

During the First World War, the collection of valuables was transported from St. Petersburg to Moscow and placed in the Armory. It was kept there until 1922. Some of the valuables were transferred to the State Treasury Depository (Gokhran), some valuables were transferred to museums. In 1925, the first exhibition in the House of Unions was held, at which jewelry was exhibited. In the period from 1927 to 1933, many jewelry was sold by the decision of the Council of People's Commissars. Since 1967, by decision of the Government, the exhibition has been opened on a permanent basis.

The exposition of the Diamond Fund presents a unique collection of jewelry, diamonds and diamonds. Throughout its existence, the Diamond Fund has been replenished with the rarest gems and precious items.

A huge amount of work was done by the experts of the experimental jewelry laboratory. They carried out restoration work to restore the destroyed values. Among them are the Great Imperial and Small Imperial Crowns, as well as other items and decorations of members of the royal family.
