Fishing Village in Phang Nga Bay in Thailand, Phi Phi Resort
Rating: 8,1/10 (824 votes)  This village off the island of Ko Panui is built on stilts right above the sea. Single-storey platform houses adjoin the southern tip of the island. About 2 thousand people live here. The village was built on water because it was very difficult for Thais to buy land in the 18th century. About 50% of the villagers are engaged in tourism, another 40% are still fishing. The village has a clinic, a mosque, a school, as well as many shops with souvenirs. Electricity was installed in the village not so long ago, and it is quite expensive here. There is even internet now. There is only one policeman in the entire village, but there is almost no work for him.
