Rating: 7,5/10 (600 votes)  RecreationThe excellent ski resort of Tahko has often been the venue for the Nordic ski championships, as well as the European Snowboard Championships. In 2005, the resort was chosen as the best ski resort in Finland. The resort has 23 well-equipped slopes, 8 of which have special lighting for evening and night skiing. The mountain slopes are equipped with 15 lifts. The tracks are ideal for both professional skiers and beginners. The resort is divided into two ski areas: Tahko and Lumilaakso. Winter sports enthusiasts will appreciate the excellent trail leading to the top of Tahkovuori, which is considered one of the best in Finland. For children, the resort has a children's slope, a free lift (up to 7 years old) and a slide for sledding. For fans of cross-country skiing, the resort is located by a network of various trails, the total length of which is more than 65 kilometers. There is also a halfpipe, a fun park and excellent snowboarding trails. On the slopes of Tahko, for the convenience of vacationers, there are five restaurants, ski schools and a sports equipment rental. The ski season at the resort lasts from mid-November to late April.  Attractions and tourismTakho Resort is perfect for families. Here is the country famous ice fortress of Lummilunna. Just 40 kilometers from the resort, in Siilijarvi, there is an excellent Fontanella Aquapark, which is the only water center in the country built according to a project selected on the basis of an architectural competition. There is a wide variety of water attractions here: two water slides, water climbing, scuba diving under the waterfall, as well as aromatic Turkish baths and a pool bar.
