The Gottweing monastery complex is located in Furth, near Krems. Since 2000, the Gottweig monastery has been under the protection of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Bishop Passau became the founder of the monastery. The consecration of the main altar took place in 1072, and the monastery itself – in 1083. By 1094, discipline in the monastery was lame, in connection with which the Bishop of Passau was forced to establish the Rite of St. Benedict. The first abbot of the monastery was Pod Hartmann, who arrived from the Black Forest along with selected monks. Hartmann became famous for his strict adherence to the rules of the monastic lifestyle. He also founded a monastic school, organized a library and built a new monastery at the foot of the hill.

There is also a small restaurant on the territory of the complex, where you can have a delicious meal and relax.
