Rating: 7,8/10 (300 votes) Old Church of Messukyla is a church in Tampere, Finland, which is a typical example of medieval Finnish church architecture. Messukyla Church was built between 1510 and 1530 and consecrated in honor of St. Michael. The gray stone church is the oldest building city, it is almost twice as old as the city itself. The building was built on the site of an ancient wooden church, dedicated, most likely, to Saint Olavi, whose images can be discover today. Its current appearance was created in 1797; then it was expanded. The old church of Messukyla has gone through a lot in its history: at the beginning of the 17th century, its walls were decorated with frescoes, fragments of which are visible and today, the bells were delivered.
