Casa Serodine description and photos - Switzerland: Ascona. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photographs and a map showing the nearest significant objects. The title in English is Casa Serodine. Photo and descriptionThe Serodine Palace, also sometimes called the House of Borrani, is located in the center of Ascona, in the small Piazza San Pietro, next to the Church of Saints Peter and Paul. This building houses the city's tourist office. To find him, go through the main entrance to the courtyard. The palace got its name in honor of its most famous owners - two brothers, the artist Giovanni and the master of painting the facades of buildings, Giovanni Battista Serodine. The facade of the three-story palace is divided by horizontal cornices. The central part of the building is decorated with several baroque reliefs. The image of the Madonna and Child immediately attracts attention. A little higher you can see two couples: Adam and Eve, succumbing to temptation, and David and Bathsheba, who also awaits the punishment for the sin of adultery. These images embody love. The lower frieze probably contains four figures, symbolizing the age of the person. The precious moldings on the facade are the work of Giovanni Battista Serodine. Above the main portal is the coat of arms of the Serodine family, which depicts two youths. There is also a memorial plaque on which the date “1620” is written, marking the construction of the palace. The Serodine Palace was reconstructed in 1968 and 1990. From 1938 to 1983, it housed a gallery selling antiques by Vladimir Rosenbaum. Now this palazzo belongs to the Ascona Museum of Contemporary Art. While the main building of the museum is closed for restoration, there is a good selection of paintings by artists of the 20th century.
