Abo Castle is a Swedish castle in the Finnish city of Turku, acquired a form close to modern, during the reign of Gustav Vasa. it one of the most remarkable state medieval castles in Finland.

The castle is located at the mouth of the Aurajoki River and at different times it played a significant role in the history of the countries of northern Europe and, in particular, Sweden. Historians suggest that at this place at the end of the 13th century, by order of a fortified camp was built by the Swedish king, which over time repeatedly expanded and completed. With the advent of modern times, medieval castles began to lose their meaning. Therefore, from the end of the 16th century, Abo Castle used as storage and prison. The castle gradually began to come to decline. In the 17th century, part of the castle was used as a service apartment governors of Pori and Turku provinces. Today Abo Castle is one of the most important historical construction monuments in Finland. The castle houses a historical the city museum, which is a branch of the Turku District Museum. At the castle there is a chapel that has become a very popular place for a wedding ceremony. In addition, the halls of the medieval castle itself can also be rented.
