Rating: 7,7/10 (202 votes) The Doll and Costume Museum is a unique museum in Tampere, Finland. It is located in Hatanpaa Manor on the shore of Lake Pyhajarvi. The collection of the museum includes more than five thousand dolls, including puppet dolls of the 12th century, fortune-telling dolls, doll costumes and accessories. Most of the exhibits tell about the life of aristocrats and representatives of the upper strata of society from Rococo to modern times. The museum has two permanent exhibitions -"Room of the Fashionista 1890-1990." and"Doll Making Technique". There are also temporary thematic exhibitions. The “Fashionista's Room” features antique costumes and fabrics. The second exhibition tells how mechanical, straw, wooden dolls, doll houses, clothes were made at different times. Among other things, the museum has two children's playrooms and a puppet theater. Hatanpaa Manor is surrounded by a large arboretum park created in 1870.
