The Chapel of St. John the Baptist is the main attraction of the Church of San Lorenzo and a striking example of the Renaissance style.

The chapel was erected in 1451-1465. The chapel got its name in honor of the patron saint of Genoa, John the Baptist.

Today there is a sarcophagus of the 13th century, in which the relics of the saint, found in 1098 during the crusades, rest.
