Photo and descriptionThe Church of the Exaltation of the Cross, along with the Nikolaev Church in Kaidaki, are considered the oldest religious buildings on the territory of modern Dnepropetrovsk. Although the exact time of the erection of the stone Church of the Exaltation is unknown. According to some reports, in July 1803, a construction certificate was issued. Researchers do not have a common opinion about the date of the consecration of the church - they are called 1812 and 1817 The church was laid in the center of the Diyevka settlement in the middle of 1803. The funds for the construction of the church were donated by Mikhail Maksimovich Diev and Savva Maksimovich Diev - sons of the military sergeant major Diev Maxim. The Novorossiysk Governor Mikhail Miklashevsky also took part in this. In July, Archpriest John Stanislavsky consecrated a place for a church, and a cross was erected on the site. The uniqueness of the Exaltation of the Cross Church is in the combination of two styles - the diocesan and Ukrainian neo-baroque, characteristic of the architecture of pre-Peter Russia in the 17th century. In 1817, the construction of this stone temple was completed. The dome of the church is crowned with a small dome. The facades are decorated with triangular pediments. The windows are framed with a simple profiled casing. On the walls there are simplified cornices. Subsequent eras brought new trends and the temple, having undergone some changes, acquired mostly classic features. Today, due to the buildings approaching the temple, its foundation was flooded, and the temple began to gradually collapse. Since 1995, restoration work has been carried out to restore the temple.
