The Svyato-Tikhvin nunnery in the city of Dnepropetrovsk is the only monastery located in the city center. The convent was founded in 1866. and named in honor of the "Tikhvin" icon of the Mother of God.

The first bookmark of the majestic church, for which a special certificate was issued, was made on May 11, 1869. At the very beginning of its existence, the temple was called the "Tikhvin women's community" of the Yekaterinoslav diocese , but in February 1877, following a government decree, the monastery was renamed into the Tikhvin Women's Community Monastery.

In 1925, the women's monastery was closed, and in its place the abbots organized a boarding school for orphans and disabled children, but in 1941 with the outbreak of war all children were transported inland. In 1943 g. The St. Tikhvin Convent of Dnepropetrovsk began its revival, and on August 5, 1959, unexpectedly for everyone, it was closed again.

Since 1994, the life of the monastery resumed on the site of the former Samara St. Nicholas Desert Monastery in Novomoskovsk, and in 1997 the Tikhvin Convent with all the adjacent buildings was transferred to the possession of the Dnepropetrovsk Diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

In May 1998, the monastery was officially registered as the Holy Tikhvin Convent in the city of Dnepropetrovsk. The first icon, which was painted in the temple at the end of 2000. became the icon "The Protection of the Mother of God". The following year, a central dome was installed on the monastery, and a year later a Sunday school was opened at the church.
