The cathedral itself, which was dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, is made in the form of a traditional Latin cross – the central nave, on the sides of which there are two side chapels, in which there are 6 small altars. The nave is supported by six monolithic columns, three on each side, made of Taorman pink marble. The capitals of the columns are crowned with patterns in the form of scales and feathers. Wooden beams in the upper part of the nave are supported by a cornice decorated with Arabic motifs in the Gothic style. The main portal of the cathedral was rebuilt in the thirties of the 17th century, and it is distinguished by a huge round rosette window in the Renaissance style.
