Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Italy, Parma resort
Rating: 8,1/10 (2039 votes)  The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta is an architectural symbol of the city. The construction of the cathedral was started in 1059 by Bishop Kadalo, who was later replaced by Antipope Honorius II in 1116 year proclaimed by the Pope as Easter II. The first basilica on this site appeared in the 6th century, in the 9th century a new church was erected in its place by Bishop Guibodro. In 1117, the church was badly damaged by an earthquake, but was soon restored. In 1178, the wide facade of the basilica was completed. In 1494, a sculpture by Luciano Biachino was made, which today is located near the entrance. The interior of the church has also undergone a number of changes. The domed space of the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Correggio. Today, inside the church, you can see the work of B. Angels.
