The gallery was built at the end of the 19th century in the neoclassical style. The original purpose of the construction of the passage was to block the narrow alleys on Via Toledo, which were notorious. The design of the passage was entrusted to the architect Emuel Rocco. In 1887-1890, the building was improved by architects Ernesto di Mauro and Antonio Curri, who gave it a neo-Renaissance appearance. The passage was made in the form of an octagonal cross with side-chapels of different lengths. The central part of the gallery is decorated with the image of the Compass and the Zodiacal circle.
