Rating: 7,6/10 (110 votes) Church of St. Pierre – church located in the center of the old part of Bordeaux. It was built on the site of an ancient Roman-Gallic port. Initially, the city was engaged in fishing, and the construction of the church became to some extent a tribute to their saint – the patron saint of those who live off fishing. In the 12th century, the port was moved downstream, and a new residential quarter was built on the site of the old port. On the territory of this quarter today you can see the following monuments: a bronze statue of Hercules, a monument to the Girondins, monuments to Alexis Millard and Gaston Lafargue, a fountain made by in art nouveau style.
