This building, which used to be a stock exchange, is located in the southwestern part of Triunfo Square. It was made under the direction of the architect Juan de Herrera in the late Renaissance style.
The General Archives of the Indies is located on the very first floor of the building. Since 1781, documents related to America and the Philippines have been kept here. Among them are the originals of the manuscripts of Cortez, Pizarro and Magellan, and even the diary of Christopher Columbus.
