Both mills are located in the Montmartre quarter and date back to the 18th century – time when the construction of windmills was massive, and Montmartre was the largest center for grinding grain. At that time, several dozen mills were built, according to some information, about a hundred, but only two of them have survived to this day - and ndash; these are Galette and Rade.

Rade – a younger mill, once designed not for grinding grain, but grapes. In historical documents, the date of construction is 1717. And the name of this mill has long been associated with young Parisian wine.

Galette was built in the 17th century, at the very beginning. Its main purpose was to prepare flour of a special grinding, which was mainly used in the preparation of waffles.

At the moment, both Rade and Galette are on private estates, so access to them for tourists is strictly prohibited. However, no one forbids taking pictures against the background of the mills, from several streets to each of them there is quite a picturesque view.
