Church of San Pantalon in Italy, Venice resort
Rating: 7,5/10 (100 votes)  The Basilica of San Pantalon is located in Saint Panteleimon Square in the San Polo area. The temple was built in the 11th century and throughout its history existence was rebuilt several times. The church acquired its present appearance in the second half of the 17th century. The artistic dominant of the cathedral is the decoded ceiling painting The Martyrdom and Ascension of St. Panteleimon by Giovanni Antonio Fumiani. The painting does not have a frame, which creates the illusion of transition of the ceiling on the walls. This artistic canvas is considered the largest in the world, its area is more than 700 m 2. The Chapel of Saint Panteleimon is worth a visit, which houses the altar painting The Miracle of Saint Panteleimon, painted in 1587 by Paolo Veronese. Also of interest is the Chapel of the Holy Nail, which contains one of the nails of the Life-giving Cross and the painting `` Annunciation '' works by Veronese, and The Coronation of the Virgin Mary by Giovanni d'Alemagni and Antonio Vivarini. The Church of San Pantalon, along with other attractions in Venice, has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
