Cars of the island of Nantes in France, resort of Nantes
Rating: 7,8/10 (808 votes)  Machines of the Isle of Nantes is a cultural art project located in Nantes. Its goal is to promote the popularity of the city, create a creative metropolis, embody the dreams and fantasies of the city. The machines were created in the warehouses of ship docks by authors Francois Delarozier and Pierre Orefis. Their colossal work was based on a journey through space and time between the imaginary worlds of Jules Verne and the mechanical delights of the world of Leonardo da Vinci. Cars have been presented to the audience since July 2007. Among the most outstanding machines are the Great Elephant, reaching a height of 12 meters and a width of 8 meters, made of 45 tons of steel and wood and capable of lifting up to fifty passengers, the Wonder of the Sea Carousel and the Herons Tree. The Great Elephant is a copy of the famous Sultan Elephant. The Heron Tree is a steel structure 28 meters high and 45 meters in diameter. Two mechanical herons rise on it. Designers and inventors plan to improve the design and make it possible to accommodate passengers on herons and fly around the Tree. Here there is also a museum that tells visitors the story of how cars were built.
