Church of Santo Stefano is a temple in Venice, located in the San Marco area, in Piazza Santo Stefano.

The church was erected by monks - hermits of the Order of St. Augustine in the XIII century. In the XIV and XVI, the building underwent a number of renovations. The temple was made in the Gothic style and, unlike most churches in Venice, has three apses. In the middle of the 16th century, the upper section of the bell tower collapsed after a lightning strike, also damaging the neighboring buildings. The bell tower was soon restored.

Throughout its history, the temple was consecrated six times because of the blood spilled within its walls.

Today the church contains many works by Bartolomeo Vivarini, Tintoretto and other famous artists. Fragments of the decoration of the temple, as well as the tombs, are the works of Pietro Lombardo, Antonio Canava and Tullio Lombardo. The main entrance to the temple passes through a carved portal made by Bartolomeo Bona in the Gothic style.

Santo Stefano Cathedral, along with other sights of Venice, was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
