Gornensky convent in Israel, Jerusalem resort
Rating: 8,2/10 (400 votes)  The Gornensky (or Gorny) convent belongs to the Russian Spiritual Mission of Israel. It is located in Ein Karem, 4 kilometers from the city of Jerusalem. It is an Orthodox monastery with about sixty nuns. In the main temple of this monastery, the Church of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God, a shrine is kept - the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God. To the right of the entrance to the church is a stone from which, according to Christian religious beliefs, John the Baptist delivered his sermons in ancient times. A cave temple was founded in his honor in 1987. In 2007, the Gornensky Convent celebrated its 160th anniversary.
