The Garden of Gethsemane is located next to the Mount of Olives (Olives). It was in this garden, according to church beliefs, that Jesus Christ was captured. It is believed that some of the trees in the Garden of Gethsemane have survived to this day from biblical times. The garden is traditionally revered by believers as a place where Jesus Christ indulged in prayers on the eve of tragic events. In 1848 the Garden of Gethsemane was surrounded by a stone fence.
