Today the National Archaeological Museum is located in the building of the Great Mosque, built in 1496. Almost the entire first floor of the building is occupied by Roman and Thracian tombstones, as well as jewelry and weapons.

The most interesting artifacts in the museum are the bronze head of the emperor Gordian dating from the 3rd century, a stone plaque depicting gladiator fights, a mosaic floor , made in the IV century, from the asp of the Church of St. Sophia.

On the second floor, you can see a collection of finds discovered during archaeological excavations carried out in 2004 near Shipka. Especially worth noting is the burial mask of the Thracian king, made in the 4th century BC, and the beautiful bronze head, which, according to historians, belonged to King Sevt. The walls of the museum are decorated with frescoes and icons,
