Not far from the Sydney Aquarium in 2006, the Wild World Wildlife Park was opened. Today he is a full member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums.

In May 2002, the Sydney Aquarium announced plans to expand its area to include a wildlife park. Construction of the new park began in 2004 and was completed two years later. And already in 2007 at the Australian Tourism Award the park received the main prize as the best place for family vacations.

A 1 km long pedestrian path has been laid through the park, which winds among the enclosures covering an area of 7 thousand square meters. m. Today, about 6 thousand animals live here, representing 130 species of local fauna.

The upper level enclosures are open-air, bounded by huge stainless steel mesh barriers that support curved beams. This design made it possible to decorate the enclosures with live plants and real trees. The largest exposition, occupying 800 square meters, represents the semi-desert zone - it contains 250 tons of red sand brought from central Australia, and huge baobabs grow. Red kangaroos are kept here.

In general, the entire territory of the wildlife park is divided into 10 key zones: "Butterflies", "Invertebrates", "Reptiles", "Kakadu Gorge", "Roof of Koalas", "Night Animals", "Rain Forest" ”,“ Wallaby Cliffs ”,“ Koala Sanctuary ”and“ Semi-desert expanses ”.

In 2009, a new inhabitant was brought to the park - a 5-meter male saltwater crocodile named Rex, for which a special aviary was built at a cost of 5 million Australian dollars.
