Dazu rock carvings in China
Rating: 9,4/10 (2058 votes)  This complex of rock carvings is located 165 kilometers from the large city of Chongqing and 10 kilometers from the city of Dazu. County Dazu was famous for its stone carvings as early as the 7th century AD. But most of the sculptures were created from the 10th to the 12th century. The first works are attributed to the monk Zhao Zhifing, who adhered to Tantric Buddhism. In total, about 50 thousand statues of secular, Taoist, Confucian and Buddhist themes are read here.
