Rating: 7,8/10 (300 votes)  The Franciscan Church of the Visitation (or the Meeting of the Virgin Mary and St. Elizabeth) is, according to legend, in the place where the meeting of the sisters took place. The temple building that we are seeing now was built in 1935 on the site of the ruins of earlier churches. The first of them was created in 324 AD by Empress Helena. The church consists of two parts: lower and upper. At the entrance to the churchyard, at the gate, you can see the figures of St. Elizabeth and the prophet Zechariah, and above the entrance to the lower church, you should pay attention to the image of the Virgin Mary surrounded by angels. In the inner part of the temple, frescoes are of interest located in the form of a semicircle under the ceiling. They depict various biblical stories and events.
