The Alphonse Mucha Museum in Prague is today the only official museum dedicated to the work of this great painter.

The museum was opened in 1998 by descendants of Alphonse Mucha to take care of the rich heritage of the artist, as well as to popularize his work. All exhibits of the museum were provided by A. Mucha's family. Apart from the famous monumental paintings `` Slavic Epic '', few people know about Mucha's painting. For this purpose, the museum was founded, the exposition of which tells about the work and life of the artist.

The museum is located in the southern wing of the Kaunicki Palace, built in 1720 by the architect Giovanni Battista Alliprandi.

In the exhibition of Art posters, you can see a selection of decorative paintings that were created by A. Mukha in the XIX – XX centuries. Wall murals combine decorative richness, elegance and beauty of feminine images, and also contain typical elements of art posters. The exposition `` Paris Breakthrough '' there is a poster created by Mukha, who revolutionized the field of poster design.

In the coming XX century – century of mass production and technological progress, the demand for the design of cutlery, jewelry, fabrics, tableware, etc. has increased dramatically. This prompted Mucha to create a Handbook of Artistic Crafts, which would contain the necessary instructions and samples for the implementation of the Art Nouveau style. Today, the museum contains the pages of the publication Documents decoratifs, which was published in 1902, as well as Figures decoratives. released in 1905.

Here is also one of his first works – `` The Prophetess '', as well as the famous painting `` The Woman in Red '', created to order for the theater `` German Theater '' New York City.
