Urbino is an ancient city located in eastern Italy, as well as the cultural and historical center of the Marche region.

The ancient part of the city was built up during the Renaissance. One of the city's most popular attractions is the Palace of the Dukes of Urbino. Nowadays, the palace is the former residence of the rulers of Urbino, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the Middle Ages, there was a small castle in the city, which in the 15th century, by order of Federigo da Montefeltro, expanded quite a lot due to the many palace extensions built according to the latest taste. The Dalmatian Luciano Laurana contributed significantly to the design and construction.

Today, the palace houses an exposition of the National Gallery of the Marche, in which the attention of visitors is presented to the Italian painting of the Renaissance. Several halls of the palace are also a real work of art. It is worth visiting the Duke's study, the walls of which are decorated with inlays and illusion techniques depicting musical and astronomical instruments, bookshelves, symbols of free art.

The city also has an interesting cathedral, which displays a collection of paintings by renowned artists such as Piero della Francesca, Federego Barocchio and Timoteo Viti.

Recommended to visit the Church of San Domenico, famous for its bas-reliefs Luca della Robbia
