Torre Annunziata is considered one of the centers of the Neapolitan Mafia (Camorra). Geographically, the city occupies 7 km 2. In the middle of the 18th century, it was established that the ruins are not just a villa, but a whole city. Oplont was located on the site of the present Torre Annunziata in ancient times, after archaeological work, the remains were discovered its buildings. In the 70s of the XX century, archaeologists uncovered the perfectly preserved country residence of Poppea Sabina, as well as the villa of Lucius Crassius Tertius. Subsequently, these monuments were included in the list of World Heritage Sites. Most of the works of ancient art are kept in the National Archaeological Museum in Naples.
