Photo and description

The existence of the museum began in 1986, when restorers from the Baltics, from the town of Rezekne, donated a water mill frame to the Pushkin Reserve. Museum "Water Mill" was opened in 2007 after reconstruction, becoming a real operating mill.

Bugrovo is an old village named Bugry in the past. Since the 17th century, the village belonged to the Svyatogorsk Assumption Monastery. The monks of this monastery built a water mill. The mill on the Lugovka River was first mentioned in 1764. The earliest mention of the mill found in written sources says nothing about the date of its construction. But the history of the existence of monasteries in Russia proves that that the mills were the most important objects in the economic structure of monasteries and were built at the same time as religious buildings.

Today's mill is very reminiscent of the one, "Pushkin" - it was recreated from many surviving documents. In those years when Pushkin lived in Mikhailovsky, the mill in Bugrovo had a very impressive look. Its size was impressive. But not only the size and original "physiognomy" made the mill stand out against the background of other village buildings. She was distinguished from them by extreme "talkativeness." The roar of water rushing along a wooden tray, the creak of spinning water wheels, millstones and shafts merged into one "mill" aria that drowned out all other sounds.

The Museum "Mill in the village of Bugrovo" is dedicated to the "village" Pushkin, the poet's interest in peasant life, customs, rituals and culture. Pushkin often visited here, noting the special atmosphere of mill life. Probably, it was this place that the poet chose as the place of the act of his drama The Mermaid, possibly the place of the duel in the novel Onegin.

Some time ago it was completely dilapidated - there was no talk of work at all, because all the main parts, as well as gears and drive mechanisms, were made of wood. The miller's house has almost collapsed. But for the 200th anniversary of the poet, significant restoration and restoration work was carried out in the Pushkin Reserve. In addition to the mill, the miller's house and peasant estate were also restored. The manor has a barn, a bathhouse, a hay barn and a barn with a barn.

Today, there is a functioning water mill in the village, which is launched on weekends. Millers will not only explain the principle of ancient mechanisms, but also show the internal structure of a water mill. There are also ancient scales, weights and steelyards, as well as other old mill utensils. The miller, as if, by some miracle, transferred here from time immemorial, naturally falls asleep with grain, which turns into flour of the necessary grinding before our eyes. On holidays, the theatrical launch of the mill is also performed. Freshly ground flour packed in a souvenir bag will serve as a good memory of your visit to the mill.

In the Miller's House there is an opportunity to test your skills by participating in old Russian games and learning folk crafts. Children can learn to weave belts, make amulet dolls. For the youngest visitors, the museum staff will tell tales in the old Pskov dialect.

On the territory of the museum there is a cafe called "Tavern near the mill", and its distinguishing feature is a real Russian oven, and the girls serve visitors in real Russian sarafans.

On the bank of a small river Lugovka the mill is making noise, flour is being ground. The charm of this place invites you to plunge into the past, to be transported to the fairy-tale world of the Russian countryside and to feel the atmosphere of Pushkin's times.
