Koronos is a picturesque mountain village in the northeastern part of the Greek island of Naxos. The settlement is located on the slopes of Mount Coronion Oros (the second highest peak of the island), at an altitude of 500-600 m above sea level, about 36 km from the administrative center of the island - the city of Naxos (Chora). The inhabitants of Koronos are mainly engaged in animal husbandry, agriculture and growing grapes.

Koronos is one of the oldest and most beautiful mountain villages on the island. It is a typical Greek settlement with charming white houses, labyrinths of narrow cobbled streets and alleyways climbing the mountain slopes and an atmosphere of genuine cordiality and hospitality of the locals, and architecturally resembles a traditional settlement of the mountainous regions of Northern Greece rather than the Cyclades. A favorite place for both residents and guests of Koronos is the main square of Plats. Here you will find cozy taverns and cafes where you can relax and enjoy excellent local cuisine.

Near the Koronos there is the world's largest emery deposit, known since ancient times. These days, the level of extraction of emery, which for many centuries was the basis of the financial well-being of the island of Naxos, has significantly diminished as emery was almost completely replaced by abrasives from artificial corundum. True, you can still see the old Emery mines and the impressive 16 km cable car that was used to transport the emery to the port of Mutsuna.
