The settlement is located on the slopes of Mount Coronion Oros (the second highest peak of the island), at an altitude of 500-600 m above sea level, about 36 km from the administrative center of the island - the city of Naxos (Chora). The inhabitants of Koronos are mainly engaged in animal husbandry, agriculture and growing grapes. Koronos is one of the oldest and most beautiful mountain villages on the island. It is a typical Greek settlement with charming white houses, labyrinths of narrow cobbled streets and alleyways climbing the mountain slopes and an atmosphere of genuine cordiality and hospitality of the locals, and architecturally resembles a traditional settlement of the mountainous regions of Northern Greece rather than the Cyclades. A favorite place for both residents and guests of Koronos is the main square of Plats. Here you will find cozy taverns and cafes where you can relax and enjoy excellent local cuisine.
