The title in English is Agios Petros. Photo and descriptionAgios Petros, or Agia Petros, is a small mountain village in the southern part of the Greek island of Lefkada. The settlement is located 35 km south-west of the administrative center of the island, Lefkada city, and is part of the Lefkada municipality. The settlement got its name in honor of the Church of St. Peter, built here in the 14th century. Ayios Petros has a population of just over 500 people. The main occupations of the inhabitants are agriculture, fishing and animal husbandry. Located on the slopes of Mount Elati at an altitude of about 350 m above sea level, Agios Petros is literally buried in greenery, a traditional Greek settlement with pretty stone houses, labyrinths narrow streets and, of course, a genuine atmosphere of hospitality and cordiality of local residents. In the center of Agios Petros rises the main village church - Agios Athanasios, a spacious one-nave temple with an impressive bell tower. Agios Petros is an ideal place for those who want to relax in silence, away from the noisy crowds of tourists and bustle, enjoying the unhurried rhythm of local life residents, as well as incredible landscapes and stunning panoramic views from the slopes of Elati. The cozy restaurants and taverns of Agios Petros will delight their guests with excellent cuisine.
