Photo and description

The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker is located on the site of the previously existing Zaklyuk churchyard. Everyone who passes by this church is amazed by its extraordinary architecture. It is a pillarless temple, built like an "octagon on a quadruple" and equipped with a pillar-shaped bell tower.

It is assumed that the church was built in the Baroque style in 1767. Funds for the construction of the church were allocated by one landowner named Pushchin Fedor Evseevich. Some time later, a landowner-lieutenant by the name of Polovtsev carried out work concerning an extension equipped with two entrances to the upper floor.

The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker had two thrones, in addition to the main one, which was located on the upper floor; there was a throne on the ground floor, consecrated in the name of St. Sergius the Wonderworker of Radonezh. The church bell tower was built of stone in direct connection with the church; there were nine bells on the bell tower.

A cemetery ran along the perimeter of the entire church, and on the opposite side of the altar there was a family burial of the Pushchins' family. The Church of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, located in the Zatrenye churchyard, was also assigned to the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, although by 1910 it had already ceased to exist. The stone chapel was located in the parish cemetery.

The temple parish school was opened on November 23, 1883 and was located in a house that belonged to the church. During 1915, 21 girls and 49 boys were trained at the school. A ministerial school was located in a village called Bashevo.

In 1936, the church was closed and a warehouse was housed in it. In 1980, the inside of the temple was badly burnt out, and in the 50s of the 20th century, the old cemetery was destroyed. At the moment, the church is almost completely destroyed.
