Photo & Description

The stunning beach of Myrtos is one of the best beaches in Greece. It is rightfully considered the "pearl" of the picturesque island of Kefalonia and is the owner of the "blue flag of UNESCO". Myrtos is also recognized as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

Myrtos Beach is located 30 km north of the island's capital, Argostolion, in a picturesque area at the foot of the two mountains Agia Dinati (1131 m) and Kalon Oros (901 m). The beach is crescent-shaped and surrounded by gorgeous white cliffs. The visiting card of Myrtos is the unusually clear azure-blue waters and unique white pebbles. This is one of the most photographed places in Greece.

There is no natural shade on the beach itself, but you can rent a sun umbrella to hide from the rays of the scorching sun (you can also rent a sun lounger). There is a small snack bar on the beach. In windy weather, strong enough waves rise, and when resting with children, it must be borne in mind that when entering the water, the depth begins quickly enough. At the far end of the beach (on the left when looking at the water) there is a small, beautiful grotto. The coast of Myrtos is also an ideal place to enjoy one of the most spectacular sunsets in the Ionian Sea.

A rather winding road (about 3 km) leads to the beach from the small village of Divarat. In order to fully enjoy the stunning panoramic views, it is worth visiting the special viewing platforms, from which a truly delightful sight opens.

The stunning beach has taken its rightful place in the world cinema.
