Photo and descriptionSt. Petka Church is a modern Christian church built in the city of Ruse, Bulgaria. The project for the construction of the temple was prepared by the architect Luben Dinolov in May 1939, and at the end of August of the same year construction began, which lasted for about 5 years. The temple has dimensions - 30 meters long and 17 wide. The diameter of the dome is about 13 meters, and the height of the bell tower, which is crowned with the cross, is almost 23 meters. The church has a beautiful handmade iconostasis by master Georgy Genov, and icons for it were created by the artist from Rousse Georgy Karakshev. Other icons of the temple were painted by the artists Todor Yankov and Nikola Pindikov. It is known that the total amount spent on the construction amounted to more than two million leva. On April 30, 1944, the temple was consecrated by Metropolitan Michael of Dorostolsk and Cherven. Later, beautiful frescoes appeared on the walls of the temple, created by the masters Nikolai Kozhukharov, Tsanko Vasiliev and Peter Mikhailov. On June 30, 1965, the frescoes were consecrated by Metropolitan Sophronius of Dorostolsk and Cherven. The architectural project of this temple was the first (and I must say, successful) attempt to restore the appearance of the famous Round Church in Veliki Preslav, built by Tsar Simeon I.
