Photo and description

The Museum of the Territory, located in the resort town of Riccione within the cultural center "Centro Culturale della Pesa", contains artifacts that tell the history of the city and its surroundings, from prehistoric times to era of ancient Rome. The life of people in this territory can be traced in close connection with the evolution of the territory itself - this is facilitated by numerous illustrations and interesting reconstructions. A visit to a museum can be an exciting journey through the centuries.

The first section is a kind of introduction, which in general terms tells about the origin and evolution of life on Earth. Nearby you can see the geological structure of the region, with a rich collection of fossils, stones and minerals. It also displays the skeletons of prehistoric creatures - huge bison, elephants, bears, rhinoceroses and megazeri that lived in this area millions of years ago. The Paleolithic era, the first permanent Neolithic settlements and "metal" eras - the Bronze, Copper and Iron Ages - are represented by artifacts in the form of items made of stone, bone, ceramics, metal, etc. All these objects have been found in the territory of present-day Riccione and surrounding villages. The exposition of the museum ends with a section dedicated to the conquest and colonization of Emilia-Romagna by the ancient Romans. Exhibits from this section were found in the settlement of San Lorenzo in Strada and at the site of the ancient Flaminia Route (rubbing vessels, oil lamps, toiletries, coins, etc.).
