The Assumption Cathedral was built in 1771-1777 in the Russian Baroque style. In 1821-1844, according to the project of the architect E. Vasiliev, a new bell tower of the cathedral was built in memory of the victory of the Russian troops over Napoleon's army. Crowned with a golden dome, the bell tower attracts attention with its simplicity and grandeur, the severity of its forms. This is the tallest building in Kharkov - its height is 89.5 meters. Chimes are installed on the bell tower.

Currently, an organ has been installed in the hall of the cathedral, and now the church hosts concerts of famous Kharkiv performers and tours of organ and chamber music masters. Thanks to its good acoustics, the organ music hall is a popular concert hall among classical performers and members of folklore ensembles.
