Photo and description

The Church of St. Luke is located in the urban-type resort village of Novy Svet. Temple Feast - June 11.

In the fall of 1996, future parishioners of the Novy Svet settlement filed a petition to Vladyka Lazar to open a church. Vladyka granted their request and blessed the name of the future church in the name of St. Luke of Crimea. Initially, the church of St. Luke was located in the building of the former library, which belonged to the Novy Svet champagne factory. Thanks to the initiative of the director of the plant V. Zadorozhny, a new place was allocated for the library, and its building was re-equipped for the needs of the Orthodox community. In 2000, before Christmas, a dome with a cross was installed on the church. At the church were created: children's and adult Sunday parish schools, a library of spiritual literature and a circle of church singing.

In November 2006, with the blessing of His Eminence Lazar, Metropolitan of Crimea and Simferopol, the foundation stone was laid for the construction of a new church. In the fall of 2012, the rector of the Church of St. Luke, Archpriest Sergius, consecrated the church erected in the New World in the name of the Crimean saint - St. Luke, which is located near the monument to Lev Golitsyn and Emperor Nicholas II.

The pride of the temple is its shrines. The first is an icon of St. Luke with a particle of relics. The second shrine, the Last Supper icon, made in the style of woodcarving, has its own interesting history. By purchasing the "New World" estate, Prince Lev Golitsyn began the construction of his house (1878-1881), in which a house church was envisaged, which, unfortunately, has not survived. The icon "The Last Supper" from this church was bequeathed to the Church of St. Luke by Golitsyn's great-granddaughter, Princess Tatiana Glonti.

The third shrine of the Church of St. Luke is a cross with particles of the relics of the Chernigov Martyrs of the 12th century, donated by a passing priest. It so happened that this shrine was lost by him. But he offered up a prayer to Saint Luke, saying that if the cross was found, he would give it to the church as a gift. The cross was found and was immediately handed over to the temple.
