Photo and description

St. John the Baptist Monastery is located almost at the exit from Staraya Ladoga, but its huge bright blue chapters are perfectly visible even from the Nikolsky Monastery. One temple survived from the entire monastery - the huge Cathedral of the Nativity of John the Baptist, erected in 1695. The church is five-domed, cubic in shape, with a seven-sided altar apse. The decorative details of the building - blades, figured platbands - are made of bricks. Near the cathedral there is a pointed bell tower, also built at the end of the 17th century.
