Photo and description

Truly one of the most beautiful modern creations of human hands - the snow-white Birla Mandir temple, located in the ancient Indian city of Hyderabad, in the state of Andhra Pradesh. In total, several similar temples were built in India, and all of them are called Birla Mandir, including one of them is located in Delhi.

This multi-tiered Hindu temple, dedicated to one of the incarnations of Vishnu - God Venkateshwar, is completely built from white marble. It is located on an 85-meter hill called Naubadh Pahad, and the area of this temple complex is about 53 square meters. The construction of Birla Mandir in Hyderabad took 10 years, and it was finally completed in 1976, in the same year the temple was consecrated. There are no traditional bells in Birla Mandir, since the atmosphere in the room should be calm and conducive to self-contemplation and meditation.

The architecture of Birla Mandir is a mixture of the South Indian traditions of Rajasthani and the architecture of Utkala temples. In total, it took about 2 thousand tons of pure Rajasthani white marble to build it. Its walls are adorned with beautiful carved panels, graceful columns and balconies. Inside, the walls of the temple are decorated with delicately painted floral designs and ornaments. The largest shrine of this place is considered to be a statue of the deity Vishnu, carved from granite and having a height of more than 3 meters.

The doors of the temple are open to absolutely everyone, regardless of religion, age and gender, as the great spiritual leader of the Indian people bequeathed Mahatma Gandhi.
