One of the landmarks of Tangier is the Museum of the American Diplomatic Mission, located next to the Dar el-Makzen palace complex. This museum, opened in the last century, serves as a reminder of the fact that the state of Morocco was the first country on the African continent to recognize the independence of the United States.
