Ungurmuiza Manor is located near Cesis in the Gauja National Park. This is a unique architectural monument in Europe made of wood in the Baroque style. For the first time, settlements on the territory of today's Ungurmuiza estate are mentioned in documents from 1399, in the inventory of Bishop Johann von Wallenrod. At that time, these lands were the Urele estate and were part of the Rosuli castle. Since the 15th century they passed from one owner to another. Until the middle of the 17th century, this area belonged to the von Ungern family, which gave the name to the estate - Ungurmuiza. And from the 18th century to 1939, the von Kapenhausen family owned the historic manor.

The manor acquired its modern look in 1731, two years after the von Kapenhausen acquired the land. The center of the estate, of course, was a monumental manor house made of wood with columns, measuring 33.2 meters by 16.6 meters. Later, a cage, stables and other outbuildings were built. A linden garden was laid out nearby, and behind the house was laid a landscaped oak park and decorative ponds.
In the 1750s, the house was partially rebuilt, when the one-story building was probably covered with a massive mansard roof and a mezzanine was built on the transverse axis. The project also envisaged emphasizing this axis with a turret on the ridge of the roof. In the middle of the house there is a park salon (hall) and a lobby. In the right and left wings there are residential apartments, which are united by two heating centers, organized in the form of a chimney-kitchen.

In the middle of the 18th century, some of the premises were decorated with paintings. An illusory painting of the ceiling and walls of the upper staircase hall, made on wood, which depicts the bivouac of the Kampenhausen Grenadier Regiment in a rocaille manner, has survived to this day. All elements of facade decoration (pilasters, corner rusticas and others) copy the stone forms of Baroque architecture in wood. Metal fittings for windows and doors (forged hinges, locks, etc.) are distinguished by their elegance.

In the 1880s, the manor house and pavilion were covered with boards. Later, the original tiled roof of the house was replaced with a tiled one, and the roof of the Tea Pavilion was lost. In 1952-1959 the furnishings of the house were partially reconstructed, and a school is organized there. In 1974, art restorers I. Lantsmane and D. Kalandarova restored the painting of the staircase hall, and in 1976-1978, the Tea Pavilion was restored by the architect R. Dunkure.

Currently, a classical music concert called Schubertiada is held annually at the Ungurmuiza estate. The musicians perform compositions by Franz Schubert (1797–1828), as well as works by other authors, who create a similar mood that appears from listening to the works of the great Austrian composer. This gives a special musical pleasure to fans of the great Schubert.

Schubertiada is a special concert genre that originated in the 20s of the XIX century. The composer received friends at his home and organized musical evenings. The maestro performed his own works for people dear to him. Evenings were held in a bohemian atmosphere, friends' glasses were filled with wine.

After the death of Schubert, a new concert genre was born - Schubertiada. Since 1997, Schubertiads have been regularly held in Latvia, and in recent years - in the Ungurmuiza estate.
