Photo and description

Teshebsky waterfalls are located on the border of Tuapse and Gelendzhik districts, 6 km from the village of Arkhipo-Osipovka. The waterfalls have several names: Gibius, Gebius and even Bigius, but it is most correct to call them Gebeus - from the name of Mount Gebeus (translated as "inverted jug"), or Teshebsky - by the name of the Teshebs river.

The waterfalls occupy the territory of the river bed about 1 km long, in the height range of about 150-250 m. The very first, upper waterfall of this group has a height of 2 m. The waterfall stream, flowing down obliquely, stretches for more than 3, 5 m. Under the ledge there is a drainage bath with a depth of 0.35 m. Behind the bath there is a very gentle 2-meter spillway.

260 m downstream is the largest waterfall in the group, which begins with a weir in the form of a convex arc. Then there is a slight flattening, about 2 m long, and a new ledge. The height of the waterfall is 16.5 m. At the base of the waterfall there is a bath with a depth of 0.4 m.

Ten meters downstream you can see another ledge with a height of more than 13 m. This waterfall differs in that above it there is a powerful travertine deposit, filling all the free space between the rocks of the left and right banks of the river. At the foot of the ledge there is a bathtub, the depth of which is 0.4 m.

The fourth waterfall is located after 120 m. To the right of it there is a staircase intended for climbing to the upper waterfalls. The waterfall has a height of about 15 m. The next waterfall is located 300 m from the previous one. Its height is 1.2 m. The sixth waterfall, 1.4 m high, is located 25 m from the fifth, and the last, seventh, 120 m from the sixth. Its height is 1.6 m.

Gebeus waterfalls are one of the most picturesque and fascinating excursion routes in Gelendzhik. Even untrained groups, including children, can visit this tourist site, since the walking part of the route is well equipped and short. The main sightseeing objects are the Devil's Mouth, Shoelace and Grotto waterfalls.
