The Museum of Modern Greek Art in the administrative center of the same name of the island of Rhodes is one of the most interesting museums on the island. It was founded in 1959 with the aim of collecting, preserving and studying exhibits illustrating the history of the development of Greek art, as well as educational activities on cultural and art issues among the public.

In the Museum of Modern Greek Art you will get acquainted with painting, engraving , sculpture and other works of art by talented Greek masters, including the works of such recognized geniuses as Moralis, Maleas, Parthenis, Theophilos, Engonopoulos and Tsarukhis. The earliest exhibits in the museum collection date back to the 15th century, but the bulk of the collection are works of art, created since the founding of the modern Greek state in 1832. Today the museum owns one of the world's largest collections of 20th century Greek art.

In addition to permanent exhibitions, the museum regularly hosts temporary exhibitions, thematic lectures and seminars. The museum is engaged in research activities, as well as publishes methodological literature and art catalogs. The museum's management pays special attention to the development of educational programs for children and adolescents.

The main building of the Nestorideion Melathron Museum is located at 100 Palms Square. It is an imposing three-storey building with an area for a permanent exhibition, temporary exhibitions and various cultural events, as well as a shop, a multimedia room, art cafe and library. Part of the museum's treasures is exhibited in the Art Gallery at Symi Square, 2. It belongs to the museum and the Center for Contemporary Art (179 Socratos Street), it is here that the annual art project "MoTeR" is held, aimed at supporting young talented Greek artists.
