Lake Garda Thermal Park (Parco Termale del Garda) description and photos - Italy: Lake Garda. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photographs and a map showing the nearest significant objects. The title in English is Parco Termale del Garda. Photo and descriptionLake Garda Thermal Park is located in the small town of Cola di Lazise in the Veneto province. This is a unique place that has all the conditions for recreation, relaxation, health care and even entertainment. The thermal water itself, with a temperature of 37 ° C, flows out of the ground from a depth of 160 meters and falls into an artificially created lake. It has an extremely low mineral content and no chemical contaminants at all. These characteristics make this water an excellent remedy for both prevention and treatment of various skin diseases. But the Thermal Park of Lake Garda is also a great place for leisurely strolls among the ancient buildings, surrounded by green gardens. One of the most interesting buildings is Villa Chedri, built at the end of the 18th century by the architect Luigi Canonica. During the Second World War, it housed the headquarters of the German Field Marshal Erwin Rommel. Villa Moscardo is even more ancient - it dates back to the 15th century. On its facade you can see a plaque commemorating the visit of Emperor Charles V to these places in April 1530. In addition, on the territory of the park there are guest houses, stables, a majestic greenhouse, built of wrought iron in the second half of the 19th century and decorated with a dome, and three caretaker's houses, the main of which is made in the neo-Gothic style. The creators of the park were probably the Moscardi family, who bought these lands in the middle of the 18th century. Their initiative was continued by members of the noble family of Miniscalchi-Erzzo, descended from the Venetian Doges and owned the park from the end of the 18th century until the beginning of the 20th century. It was they who built the neoclassical three-story Villa Chedri. In the photo album of a certain Richard Lotze, kept in the Miniscalchi Museum in Verona, you can see rare photographs of the park, taken in 1860. In 1989 the new owners of Villa Chedri decided to dig a well to create an irrigation system in the vast park. At a depth of 160 meters, a surprise awaited them - hot thermal springs, rich in carbon dioxide, calcium, magnesium, lithium and silicon. It was then that the idea of building an artificial lake with an area of about 5 thousand square meters was born, into which thermal water could be pumped with the help of pumps. This is how the "Thermal Park of Lake Garda" was born. A whole network of pumps with a total length of 6 km with 1400 injectors has been laid underground, which supply water to different parts of the lake in such a way that the temperature remains the same throughout the day. At the same time as the lake, a grotto was built - initially it served as a decorative element, but over time it turned into a real "hydromassage" paradise for lovers of bodily pleasures.
