Photo and description

Aarhus is one of the oldest cities located on the coast of the bay in eastern Jutland. Today Aarhus is the cultural center of the country; many of its attractions are concentrated in the center of the city - ancient churches, museums, ancient houses. Of particular interest among tourists is the Museum of Fine Arts, one of the largest art museums in Northern Europe.

The museum building is a modern ten-story building in the form of a cube with a glass rainbow gallery on the roof, the total area of the building is 17,000 sq. ... The official opening of the museum took place on April 8, 2004.

Visitors to the gallery have a great opportunity to see magnificent collections of paintings, sculptures, graphic works. The expositions of the museum are dedicated to the works of artists and sculptors of the Danish Golden Age (1800 - 1850), modernism (1900 - 1960). The museum also displays works by representatives of contemporary art, including those who work in the genre of creative experiment. The symbol and pride of the museum is one of these works - a huge five-meter sculpture of a sitting boy squatting, by Ron Mueck, created in 1999.

It is especially interesting to visit the exhibition "Your Rainbow Panorama", which is located on the roof of the building and consists of glass of all colors of the rainbow. The author of the remarkable panoramic project was the contemporary Danish-Icelandic artist Olafur Eliasson. Walking along this circle, you enjoy panoramic views of the city through colored glass and see the city in blue, reds, greens and other colors.
