Photo and description

The Zabavushka Museum of Russian folk toys was opened in 1998. The initiator of the creation of the museum was the Society of Lovers of Folk Art "Tradition".

The basis of the museum collection was made up of the exhibits of the charitable action "Game exhibition of Russian folk toys" Zabavushka ", which was held at the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art with the support and funding of the Soros Foundation. Many interested persons did not have time to see the exhibition. The exhibition dates have been extended. The visit became paid, but the flow of people wishing to see the exhibition did not decrease. Then it was decided to make an exhibition on a permanent basis, replenish the collection with new exhibits and develop excursion programs. The organizers decided to use new methods in working with children. The exposition of the museum has about five thousand exhibits.

Today it is the only museum with an open exhibition of toys. This type of interactive exhibition was not chosen by the museum organizers by chance. The main goal of the museum is to bring visitors as close as possible to the rich folk heritage. Provide an opportunity for direct communication with folk toys. During play activities, children are taught to play with folk toys.

The museum exhibits samples of toys from forty-five centers of folk craft. Some of them have existed since ancient times. There are craft centers that have recently been revived. The largest centers of folk art in Russia: Filimonovo, Dymkovo, Gorodets, Sergiev Posad, Bogorodskoe and Kargopol.

The exposition of the Zabavushka museum acquaints visitors with a variety of toys - clay, birch bark, straw, patchwork, wooden. All toys in the museum collection are genuine examples of folk art and created by the best craftsmen in their field.

Museum staff have developed interactive tours of various topics. The motto of the museum staff is “Learning about the world of toys, children learn about the world around them! Learning about the world of toys, children get to know themselves! ".

The museum conducts sightseeing tours:" Clay folk toy "," Patchwork doll and wooden toy ". During the excursions, there is an active dialogue with the guide. The game components of the excursions are interesting: "We make a toy!", "We create a fairy tale!", "We build villages!", "Drawing five minutes" and "Painting toys". Children have complete freedom of action and the feeling "I am a master, I create!" Children create a miracle with their own hands! The second excursion "Patchwork doll and wooden toy" is a continuation of the first excursion - "Clay folk toy". Children will learn what kind of toys children played a hundred years ago, what toys were made in the villages, what secrets these toys conceal, how they were played, where they were kept, which of them were never sold at the fair. Children make a patchwork doll with their own hands - a talisman and paint a wooden toy - a whistle. After visiting the Zabavushka museum, a child will never “paint” a toy like a fence!
